Dentist concerned about fluoride toxicity

A dentist who asked the Kapiti Coast District Council not to keep fluoride in the water supply is concerned about its toxicity.
Councillors have decided to keep putting fluoride into water supplies of Waikanae, Paraparaumu, and Raumati.
Dentist Stan Litras says the way fluoride is measured in water supplies, doesn't take into account the effect fluoride can have on individuals.
"Basically the toxicity registry in the States has put a limit for fluoride chronic ingestion which is exceeded by a large number of children in New Zealand due to their low body weight."
