Auckland anti-fluoride rally planned
Friday, 5 April, 2013 - 13:28
Protesters will be gathering at the Town Hall on Monday to let councillors know their objection to the medication of the community water supply with hydrofluorosilicic acid. Auckland residents are demanding that the Council fulfil its legal requirement of providing drinking water. Protesters say the water is not drinkable when it has been laced with a known neurotoxin which cannot easily be removed. Most household filters do not remove fluoride chemicals and these chemicals cannot be boiled out. Even buying bottled water or an expensive fluoride filter does not address the problem of skin absorption through showers and bathing.
Hamilton city council is giving their residents a say through consultation now happening and Hastings and Whakatane District Councils are holding referendum in conjunction with this year’s local body elections. New Plymouth, Central Hawke’s Bay, Ruapeh-Taumarunui and the Far North District Councils have all stopped fluoridation in the last three years leaving Auckland as only one of 23 councils out of 67 that continues.
