Further to water quality in Orillia, I notice the issue of fluoridation of the public drinking water supply has reared its head in council.

It should not happen. Back in the 1970s, Dean Burk, renowned biochemist, travelled the world to convince communities to not fluoridate their water supplies.

Although fluoride does work to prevent tooth decay, it should not be swallowed, therefore it is fine in toothpaste wherein one spits it out and rinses. Do this at least once per day to prevent caries, for example. It should not be swallowed. Fluoride ions displace calcium in the bones, contributing to osteoporosis amongst other things.
