USA - Fluoride: Is there a connection?

Individuals with kidney disease have an impaired ability to excrete fluoride from their bodies. Fluoridated water is not used for kidney dialysis. Also, the number of Americans diagnosed with diabetes, which effects the kidneys, has tripled since 1980. There has been a 90 percent increase in diabetes from 1998 to 2008. Twenty-four million people in the U.S. suffer from diabetes.

If a study has not yet been done linking fluoride and diabetes, one should be done before fluoride is added to any water system.

The health risks of diabetes are far greater than tooth decay. Cavities can be reduced, if not eliminated, by proper hygiene and diet, in most cases. Diabetes is not so easy to control. If one is forced to ingest fluoridated water, a pre-existing condition could possibly be accelerated. Diabetes results in eye problems (even blindness), leg problems (amputations), kidney failure (kidney transplant), heart disease, stroke, gangrene of the feet and hands, impotence, infections and other complications.

Our governing bodies have a responsibility to protect the people. But they must educate themselves so they can make the right decisions based on accurate information.

It is not worth the risk to future generations to fluoridate the water if serious health problems might develop later in life.
