More facilities for kidney patients at hospitals
The spreading of renal diseases in certain areas in the North Central Province has been on the increase without any definite cause of the disease being discovered.
The areas such as Padaviya, Medawachchiya, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Girandurukotte, Medirigiriya and Kebithigollewa in the province have been identified as divisions where renal patients are rampant.
According to the hospital sources nearly 15,000 renal patients have registered themselves at the Government hospitals in these areas for clinical treatment.
It is learnt that grave medical attention has been focused on two main possible reasons for spreading of the disease such as the reaction of fluoride on cheap aluminium surfaces and drinking water containing cadmium (CD) which is a heavy metal, both harmful to the kidneys. ..............
