Claims that the Isle of Man's horse population could be badly affected by water fluoridation are being dismissed by the Director of Public Health. Dr Parameswaran Kishore says even the British Cattle Veterinary Association admits there are no toxic effects at the proposed level, of one-part-per-million.
And he is repeating his offer that he'd be keen to receive any scientific study showing that fluoridation at the proposed level has any impact on animal health.
His comments are in response to claims from the Manx Horse Council that the Island's 4,000 horses could suffer if fluoride was added to the water supply.
The Council's Jane Barham says it can cause a potentially harmful condition (Jane Barham was speaking to John Moss on Mandate.
