Why put fluoride in our drinking water?

Why put fluoride in our drinking water?
Why is there fluoride in our drinking water? Sure, we all know it's supposed to be good for our teeth and bones, but is it really?
Do a little research and you will find out that sodium fluoride, the ingredient in our drinking water, is poison, one of the main ingredients used in pest control products.
This may sound a little far-fetched to some, but the amount of fluoride in one serving of toothpaste is the same as in 8 ounces of drinking water. Now the interesting thing is, if you check the label on your toothpaste, it will tell you that if the toothpaste is ingested to contact poison control.
What are we ingesting in our drinking water? And why is it being put there after all the research saying it is not good for us? The amount we receive from our toothpaste is sufficient, and there's no need to swallow sodium fluoride.
Many states and counties have brought up this issue with the help of health professionals and have had the fluoridation of public drinking water ended. Shouldn't the Roanoke area be one of them?

"but the amount of fluoride in one serving of toothpaste is the same as in 8 ounces of drinking water." Is this really true. I've seen the video but toothpaste has a 1000 odd parts against the 1 part?
