Once upon a time in the U.S. after the last war huge industrial and military intersts were being faced with multi billion dollar lawsuits from workers and neighbouring communites on the poisonous effects of fluoride chemicals into which they came into contact or which poluted their air. The culprits' answer was to employ a vast public relations exercise to promote the chemical as good for your teeth and therefore healthy. Then, by selling the idea of adding it not just to toothpaste but to drinking water, they found a profitable market for their dangerouis waste. The PR job then went international, manipulating endorsements from bodies likely to influence governments. 'The Fluoride Deception', the result of ten years of extremely detailed research by journalist Chris Bryson, will convince anyone who cares to read it of the origins of water fluoridation.

Fluoride is one of the most reactive electro-negative elements known, and adding it to the human body is foolish in the extreme. It is likely to displace iodine in the thyroid, it has been linked to bone cancers, it weakens our bones (whilst making them denser) and has even been linked to loss of teeth (the link to the jaw being weakened) and to dental fluorosis, common and serious in fluoridated areas. The scientific analysis of the benefit to teeth is weak and contradictory. So who would be mad enough to risk the side effects on our body for possible small benefits to our teeth. The possible benefits to teeth are due to 'topical' effect, i.e. the fluoride killing the bacteria on the teeth, not from ingesting it and causing systemic fluoride poisoning. So oppose water fluoridation, and never ever swallow your fluoridated toothpaste (especially young children). recent research increasingly shows that fluoride is damaging to our health. This is perhaps the worst medical scandal since the thalidomide tragedy, both in the extent of the medical damage done and the sheer numbers affected. But it takes time for the effects to show and it is difficult to prove conclusively that fluoride caused it, despite extremely strong suspicions. Pro-fluoride science is flawed science, it is like the early pro-smoking science, it is industry funded denial of clear evidence of health damage. If you value your health and your children's health act now to stop the establishment pro-fluoride madness.

When they test it for safety and prove it's safe, they can put it in people's drinking-water, not before. Fluoridation has been imposed on the public, in some places, for 60 years, as the article states, but IT HAS NEVER BEEN PROPERLY TESTED FOR SAFETY.

a few more dentists in the area would not go a miss. children need to see a dentist every 6 months.but this is not possible if the parents are on low income or benefits
