CORNING -- The City of Corning's attorney is finished making recommendations to the city about an anti-fluoride petition, but some people aren't satisfied.
On Sept. 27, fluoride opponent Kirk Huttleston presented the city council a petition signed by more than 400-people against fluoridating the city's water. The Davidson and O’Mara Law Firm reviewed the petition and made recommendations to city officials about what to do next. But the city isn't releasing that information yet.
Sylvia Huber of the Corning Area Taxpayers Association says not releasing the opinion now is a political move by Mayor Frank Coccho.
"I think it's a misuse of communication to the voters and the residents of the city of corning. We paid for that legal opinion, so therefore it's not confidential, it should have been made public immediately,” said Huber.
When we asked Mayor Coccho why he’s waiting he said, “Because I don't know that we know exactly what it entails. I don't know that I understand that opinion. We need some clarification on it as well."

The city will make public the attorney's opinion at a press conference on Oct. 23.
