USA - Internet poison mongers!
To The Editor: I could not believe my eyes to read in the Times-News that Brevard City Council voted to jeopardize the future oral health of their children by canceling their water fluoridation program.
Council based this decision on the results of a study by their business manager who obviously got eaten alive by the local and Internet poison mongers who spawned such unfounded notions.
Someone should have suggested to Brevard's Council that they might first have consulted the Center For Disease Control or the National Research Council before canceling this universally accepted program that has provided such outstanding benefits to the oral health of the world's children.
These groups are much better equipped to conduct the assessment of existing scientific literature than are city staff members, as is the North Carolina Division of Public Health.
