Not very healthy water in Pakistan

Water harmful to health
Sir: According to the monitoring programme of the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), the water available in 25 cities of our country is harmful to health. Nearly forty percent of our population is not getting clean and healthy drinking water. Water is getting polluted because of agricultural waste, and poisonous industrial and human waste. A report of PCRWR revealed that 50 percent of the water supplied throughout the country was unfit for drinking. It contains many harmful substances such as arsenic, fluoride, iron, nitrate, cadmium, sulphate etc. Polluted water is the cause of 40 percent of all diseases in Pakistan and 60 percent deaths of newborn babies. Recently 10 people died and 5495 acquired deadly diseases due to unhygienic water in Faisalabad.
Polluted water can cause typhoid, cancer of the large intestine, diarrhoea, pain in the liver and oral diseases.
Water should be purified through enhanced chlorination to avoid the spread of diseases. Drinking water should be boiled before use. The government should work towards the purifying water supply in Pakistan.
