Editorial: Keep oral health care from rotting away in Northern Kentucky
We've taken junk food and soft drinks out of schools, but we haven't done enough to bring the dental floss and tooth brushes in.
According to the Kentucky Children's Oral Health Survey, 31 percent of children in third through sixth grades have untreated tooth decay. And 50 percent of second-graders screened by the Northern Kentucky Independent District Health Department in 2004-05 had to be referred to a dentist for treatment. Ouch.

MOST soft drinks will be banished from almost every American primary and secondary school under a deal worked out during Bill Clinton's presidency.
The move has been hailed as a progressive step in the battle for healthier children.
The rules are expected to be come in by 2009, part of Mr Clinton's campaign to stamp out childhood obesity.
Mr Clinton said yesterday he hoped to seek similar accords with the food industry.
"We're turning a huge ship around in the middle of the ocean before it hits an iceberg," said the 42nd president, himself a self-described recovering junk-food addict, who underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery in 2004.
The agreement calls for limiting the size of all beverages to 225 millilitres in primary schools, 285 millilitres in middle schools, and 340 millilitres in high schools compared to some 600-millilitre containers now sold. In addition, any beverage must have no more than 100 calories, except for water, milk and nutrient-containing juices.
Soft drink sales will be confined to high schools, and then only diet mineral drinks. Milk must be skim milk or contain no more than 1 per cent fat.
The guidelines are significantly stricter than others the beverage industry announced last summer.(CHICAGO TRIBUNE)"
SO WILL THE ONLY SOFT DRINKS ALLOWED AT UNDER 100 CALS BE DIET SODAS...LOADED WITH ASPARTAMINE??
THEY WILL FIT THE BILL AND WITH FLUORIDE DUMBING DOWN THE KIDS ASPARTAMINE WILL JUST WORK A TREAT ON WHATS LEFT OF THEIR POOR BLOODY BRAINS.
