Fluoride or No Fluoride!

The Fluoride Action Network (FAN) is working to protect us against fluoride, a prescription drug and a dangerous neurotoxin that is put into many water supplies across the U.S. without permission from the residents. With the intent to protect your teeth from cavities, many studies suggest water fluoridation causes far more harm than good.

In January the FDA sent a warning letter to a fluoride supplement manufacturer, telling them to cease marketing these products as they are unapproved drugs and not proven safe or effective. However, fluoride is still being added to water supplies. From the beginning FAN has strived to bring the latest most credible information to the public on the negative effects of using fluoride. They continue to monitor medical literature to publicize the latest studies including research showing fluoride’s impact on brain development and IQ. That is something to think about when your child is drinking that fluorinated water from the tap. It’s now found that 41% of American adolescents now have dental fluorosis—unattractive discoloration and mottling of the teeth due to overexposure to fluoride.

Against The Law To Sell Unapproved Drugs
Federal law prohibits the sale of unapproved new drugs so how are these companies manufacturing and selling fluoride supplements able to keep violating the law? While the selling of fluoride drugs is illegal, it is still being added to water supplies across the U.S.

Four big pharmacies in the U.S., namely CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid and Walmart, are selling these unapproved drugs. FAN has sent letters to these four pharmacies informing them they are violating federal and state law by selling these unapproved drugs. FAN has also filed a citizen’s petition with the FDA along with the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, to extend the same warning to all other fluoride drug manufacturers. The end result is to get FDA to take further action and completely eliminate these unsafe and ineffective products from the market.

Have You Noticed Memory Loss?
Most people are unaware of the link between water fluoridation and cognitive effects such as reduced memory function, learning disabilities and decreased IQ’s. In fact, 50 published studies have shown these connections. Imagine giving your infant fluoridated water in their infant formula. These babies are exposed to very high doses at a very vulnerable stage of life and could impact their brain development and IQ.

The National Research Council has classified fluoride as an endocrine disruptor, capable of interfering with thyroid function, insulin production and glucose metabolism. The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics as well as the American Endocrine Society task force are warning people of the necessity to avoid endocrine disrupting chemicals.

Poorer communities lack the financial means to install water filtration systems capable of filtering out fluoride, such as reverse osmosis systems, and the use of infant formula is higher, particularly in communities of color. It isn’t only removing these properties from the water, but it also tastes a whole lot better. I wouldn’t be without my ROS system for the drinking and cooking water. Protect your babies and children, and use some sort of filter on all drinking water. This is part of preventative medicine. The cost of the system could save you and your family from terrible disease, medical problems, and of course, financial grief.
