Unfortunately, there are two quotes that have been used and abused over and over for decades by journalists, writers, fluoride proponents and news media outlets. Anyone using these two quotes is guilty of spending very little time actually researching the science, ethics and legal aspects of the public health policy of fluoridation. In this video from the Fluoride Action Network, the origins and meaning of each quote is exposed and explained while revealing just how meaningless and outdated they have always been in the overall fluoridation debate. The health and safety of the public is never served when quotes such as these are used incessantly in an attempt to demean an opponent or impress someone with outdated statements from a respected government agency that are without merit or current factual backing. The motion picture segment of "Dr. Stangelove" belongs to Columbia Pictures, and is included as a demonstration of the full quote made in context by the character, General Jack D. Ripper. It is used under the Fair Use section of copyright law for non-profit educational use.
This video was originally produced for the Fluoride Action Network YouTube Channel by this channel owner. It's viewer count as of the date of this posting was 7067 views. Despite its clear use of facts to refute these ludicrous quotes, we continue to see them misused in articles and journalism by writers in the media and in commentary as if they are still authoritative. The first sign that a fluoridation article has not been researched properly or fact checked is when these quotes are used.
