NZ - Fluoride submissions close today
Submissions on a proposed law change on the status of fluoride close today.
The Ministry of Health proposal would no longer restrict fluoride like a medicine.
Anti-fluoride campaigners are calling it a rushed summer law change that undermines the process of the courts. Fluoride Free New Zealand's Mary Byrne says it would it make it harder to challenge water fluoridation in the courts.
"It means that whenever the government doesn't like something they can just override the judiciary."
Mary Byrne says the chemical will remain the same.
"The chemicals being used are medicine, otherwise they wouldn't need to be exempted from the Act."
