USA - Fluoride intake threatens learning

COLUMBIA, SC — So Midlands students slipped on the PASS test? We should be doing everything we can to give our children a chance to succeed academically, starting with clean drinking water.

What’s the connection? In the medical journalThe Lancet, fluoride exposure in drinking water has been linked to permanent IQ deficits in children , based on studies done mostly in China.

While fluoride exposure in these studies may be higher than what children and pregnant women receive from Columbia’s drinking water, no one knows what a safe fluoride dose is for a developing brain. No one knows what it is doing to our children, because we haven’t done the studies here. The city of Columbia continues to add thousands of pounds of fluoridation chemical to our drinking water every year, ignoring all the evidence of potential harm to our children.
