Study to probe controversial fluoride plan

A major new study is set to be launched into controversial plans to add fluoride to drinking water in Derbyshire.As part of a major new drive to boost dental health Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust will lead a new research programme into proposals to extend the fluoridation of water.
The plans have sparked a storm of controversy with those against the plan arguing the long-term health risks are unknown and different studies have produced contrasting results.
A health trust in Southampton was recently allowed to introduce fluoride to tap water. Health bosses voted through the plans despite protests.
The findings of the feasibility study should be available in September, according to the PCT.
Didn't take them long to follow Southampton's SHA foregone decision
